N.S.L.
The NSL (National Soccer League) is Australia's highest level of soccer. Founded in 1977, it operated as a winter league until 1989 when play shifted to the summer. Teams range geographically from Perth Glory in Western Australia to the Football Kingz, based in Auckland, New Zealand. The National Soccer League concluded at the end of the 2003/2004 season, to be replaced with the new eight team Australian Premier League which will commence in 2005.
